Practicalities
Collections, bookings and payment.
What are your opening hours?
We operate from 8am to 5.45pm, Monday to Friday. We close at weekends, on Bank Holidays and over the Christmas period.
What areas do you cover?
Our established collection patches include Highbury, Finsbury Park, Stoke Newington and Holloway, with selected streets in Crouch End. Send us your postcode and we will check the route.
What if I am not home?
That is not a problem. Many clients have left for work before we arrive. We can hold your keys securely and are covered by key holder insurance.
How much does day care cost?
Standard day care is £50 per day. Puppies under six months can attend for £35 on Mondays and Fridays. VAT, collection and return are included.
Do I need to pay up front?
No. There is no deposit or prepayment. We invoice monthly and payment is by bank transfer.
Do I need fixed days?
No, although we recommend regular days because popular days can fill up. Providing we have space, you can book as many or as few days as you need through our app.
What is your cancellation policy?
We require two full days’ notice to cancel or rearrange a booked day without charge.
Your dog
Health, behaviour and individual care.
Does my dog need to be well trained?
For us, ready for day care means approachable, friendly and comfortable around dogs and people. Our induction process helps us decide whether the Capital pack is right for them.
What vaccinations are required?
Dogs need an up to date core vaccination record and kennel cough vaccination. Puppies can usually join us from around 15 weeks, once they have completed their second round of vaccinations and waited at least ten days. We assess each puppy during induction to make sure they are ready.
Can you manage special requirements?
We agree medical, dietary, feeding, nap and other individual requirements before a dog joins us. Tell us everything during the induction so we can decide whether we can care for them safely.
What happens in bad weather?
We normally continue as usual. The Meadow has warm, well equipped shelters, and our dog mobiles are air conditioned in hot weather and heated when it is cold.
What if my dog gets dirty?
We clean paws and jaws before returning dogs home. For dogs who love mud, we recommend a suitable bad weather suit so they can keep enjoying the outdoors.
Do you take dogs overnight?
No. Capital Dog Care is a weekday day care service.
The Meadow & safety

Where is The Meadow?
Our private countryside site is near Hemel Hempstead. Visits can be arranged after the induction process has been completed.
How big is The Meadow?
The Meadow is around eight acres, divided into secure paddocks with varied terrain, toys, cabins and rest areas.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Capital Dog Care is fully licensed and insured. Our licence holder is Seb Byrd and our licence number is M057890.
What transport do you use?
Our modern, purpose built dog mobiles are air conditioned, GPS tracked and fitted with dash cams.
What happens in an emergency?
We maintain procedures for extreme weather, transport incidents, injury, escape and fire. The team practises securing the dogs before following the relevant emergency process.
