Meet the team.

A company is only as good as the people that work for it, and we like to think our team is the best in the business, combining a genuine love for all things canine plus an ability to handle a lively pack in the best possible manner.

We are:

Amy

General Manager

Amy has worked with dogs of every shape and size for years and loves day care because it is where dogs can be at their most joyful. She treats the Capital dogs as if they were her own.

A little more about Amy

Favourite breed: Huskies: silly, bouncy, noisy, energetic and always ready for a very big cuddle.
Dog double: Golden Retriever: outgoing, trustworthy and equipped with a reliably cheerful approach to life.
Outside Capital: Time with Ghost the Husky, trips to the gym and seeing friends.

Carys

Day Care Assistant

Carys has spent much of her life surrounded by animals, from dogs and cats to lizards and snakes. At Capital she particularly loves helping quieter puppies come out of their shells and grow in confidence.

A little more about Carys

Favourite breed: Labradors: essentially affectionate vacuum cleaners with tails that remain convinced they are puppy sized.
Dog double: Basenji: small, chaotic, fond of singing and always ready for a midday nap.
Outside Capital: She is usually crocheting, painting pet portraits or performing with her local musical theatre company.

Cheyenne

Day Care Assistant

Cheyenne has lived with dogs all her life and grew up grooming, caring for and training the family pack. At home she has Minnie the Pug, Kali the Bulldog and Rocky the Toy Poodle; at The Meadow she generally acquires an even larger entourage.

A little more about Cheyenne

Favourite breed: Rottweilers: adventurous, cuddly and far cleverer than people often realise.
Dog double: Staffy: short, full of love and cuddles, with a suitably sassy side when required.
Outside Capital: Tennis, ambitious DIY projects, trying new food and maintaining an excellent karaoke score.

Dom

Day Care Assistant

Dom grew up around animals in the Italian countryside, with neighbouring farm dogs and plenty of holiday dog sitting. He enjoys getting to know each Capital dog properly and watching their individual personalities and friendships emerge.

A little more about Dom

Favourite breed: He is torn between Vizslas and Brussels Griffons: completely different dogs, but both full of character.
Dog double: Whippet: tall, lanky and energetic, with an excellent selection of jackets.
Outside Capital: Exploring London, skateboarding, drawing and the occasional live music event.

Eleisha

Operations & Admin Lead

Eleisha grew up around dogs on her aunt’s farm and learned plenty from joining her dog behaviour appointments. At Capital she helps new dogs settle in and keeps their individual routines and requirements organised.

A little more about Eleisha

Favourite breed: Lurchers for their adventurous but gentle nature, with a definite weakness for Cavapoo cuddles.
Dog double: Labrador: sociable, easy going, energetic and always ready to make a new friend.
Outside Capital: Travel, countryside walks, time with friends and a good rock concert.

Gemma

Day Care Assistant

Gemma grew up inseparable from her family’s rescue Lurcher and now gets her daily dog fix from the Capital pack. One favourite memory is watching the dogs, especially the puppies, discover snow for the first time.

Favourite breed: Vizslas: exceptionally clever, wonderfully funny and just the right amount of crazy.
Dog double: Dachshund: small, noisy, energetic and happiest wrapped in a warm blanket.
Outside Capital: Long hikes, travelling and a healthy amount of gaming.

Kaine

Day Care Assistant & Driver

Kaine looks after our Stoke Newington collection round before joining the rest of the team and dogs for the day at The Meadow. Calm, dependable and already very much at home with the pack, he helps make both the journey and the day itself run smoothly.

A little more about Kaine

Favourite breed: Cockapoos are making a persuasive case, although the official verdict is still to come.
Dog double: Labrador: friendly, practical, unflappable and happiest when there is plenty going on.
Outside Capital: Kaine’s full answers are coming soon, so this profile is temporarily being guarded by the two dogs in his photograph.

Liam

Day Care Operations Manager

Liam grew up with four Boxers and a mother who worked with dogs, so canine company was a constant from childhood. At Capital he keeps the practical business of every dog’s day safe, organised and fun.

A little more about Liam

Favourite breed: Boxers: absolute clowns wrapped in a whirlwind of wiggles, goofiness and slobbery kisses.
Dog double: Afghan Hound, almost entirely on account of the long and rather magnificent hair.
Outside Capital: Music, playing instruments and supporting Manchester United, sometimes to his own detriment.

Lu

Day Care Assistant

Lu comes from a thoroughly dog mad family whose dogs have nearly all, for reasons nobody can quite explain, had names beginning with M. At Capital they especially enjoy the celebrity welcome the pack gives them whenever they return from lunch.

A little more about Lu

Favourite breed: Dachshunds always seem to become firm friends, although larger dogs undoubtedly give the best hugs.
Dog double: Cocker Spaniel: gentle, devoted to their people, slightly clumsy and prone to tangled hair.
Outside Capital: Home studio tattooing, fantasy in all its forms and archery at their range in Deptford.

Megan

Day Care Assistant

Megan was a dog walker before joining Capital and has always had dogs in the family, including her rescue, Sasha. She loves being outdoors with the pack and has a particular talent for capturing the photographs that allow owners to share in the day.

Favourite breed: Airedale Terriers: outgoing, energetic, loveable and equipped with plenty to say.
Dog double: Staffy: friendly, loyal, gentle, protective and always ready to get moving.
Outside Capital: Anything outdoors, especially hiking and camping, plus plenty of music.

Seb Byrd, founder of Capital Dog Care, with a dog

Seb

Founder & owner

Seb grew up with family dogs and later volunteered at a sanctuary, inevitably adopting two dogs along the way. He left the corporate world to start Capital in 2009 and the novelty has never worn off.

A little more about Seb

Favourite breed: Working Labradors, especially Peekay, his own loveable black Labrador and the world’s worst retriever.
Dog double: Beagle: friendly, outgoing, wilful and, when the occasion calls for it, occasionally noisy.
Outside Capital: Family time with his wife and two boys, cycling, country life and finding somewhere good to eat, usually with Peekay nearby.

Taz

Day Care Assistant

Taz has lived with dogs throughout her life, from her childhood German Shepherd, Bruno, to two more German Shepherds and three thoroughly energetic Cockapoos. She loves arriving at The Meadow to a field full of dogs delighted to see her.

A little more about Taz

Favourite breed: German Shepherds, although Labradors and Cockapoos also have a special place in her heart.
Dog double: Labrador: loveable, sociable and, by her own admission, extremely food motivated.
Outside Capital: Travelling, exploring new places, spending time with family and expanding an impressive Lego collection.

Kindness with good judgement.

Loving dogs is the starting point. Caring for a lively group safely also takes attention, consistency and the confidence to make sensible decisions.

Our team works as one.

Drivers, field staff and the office share what each dog needs, from feeding and naps to friendships, confidence and any change in behaviour.
